Suspect in baby's death held without bail

The Associated Press

BANGOR — A Massachusetts man accused of killing a 15-month-old boy will remain jailed indefinitely while awaiting trial.

The lawyer for Edgard Anziani of Lawrence, Mass., asked a judge on Thursday to indefinitely postpone a bail hearing. Anziani is expected to be indicted by a grand jury later this month.

The 27-year-old Anziani told Bangor police his girlfriend's son fell down a flight of stairs, but officials say the baby's injuries were not consistent with a fall.

Anziani was baby-sitting Damien Lynn, the son of Cheryl Metzger. He was arrested Monday in Bladensburg, Md., after fleeing Maine.
