Teams to arrive for robotics competition in Maine

LEWISTON — An inaugural regional robotics competition is about to get under way in Maine.

Pine Tree Robotics Competition at Lewiston's Colisee will feature teams from Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania and Florida.

The teams are due to begin arriving Thursday to get settled before the competition on Friday and Saturday.

It's dubbed the FIRST Robotics Competition Regional Event. "FIRST" stands for Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology. The organization was founded in Manchester, N.H.
