Two political newcomers and a longtime city official are running unopposed for three seats on the Westbrook School Committee.

The Democratic Party nominated Noreen Poitras and Mike Popovic to represent wards 3 and 4, respectively.

Suzanne Joyce, also a Democrat, will run for re-election to serve as an at-large member.

Poitras, 46, served on the Parent-Teacher Association for Saccarappa and Canal schools. An inventory manager for Hannaford Supermarkets, she has a son who is a high school junior and a daughter in fifth grade at Westbrook Middle School.

Popovic, 43, a website application developer at Idexx Laboratories, has a daughter in seventh grade at the middle school. He has served on the Congin School Council and taught a robotics class at the Westbrook Community Center.

Joyce, 51, has served on the board since 2010 and was a city councilor for 10 years before that. An account executive for Norton Insurance, she has a son who is a senior at Westbrook High School and a daughter in college.
