CAMDEN — More than 400 teams are registered to compete as the 23rd annual U.S. National Toboggan Championships get under way in Camden.

Teams come to the Camden Snow Bowl each year to participate in the zany competition, where toboggan riders wearing costumes fly down a 400-foot chute.

As of Thursday night, the races were scheduled to go on as planned. But with a blizzard warning out, organizers planned to meet Friday morning and decide whether there will be delays and what the start times will be for the races.

Friday is registration day for participants, who get a chance to take practice runs down the chute that dates to the 1930s.

Races are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, with an awards ceremony Sunday afternoon.
