KENNEBUNK   — Tom’s of Maine is launching its “50 States for Good” nonprofit initiative for a second consecutive year.

The original idea was to nominate community-wide projects and allow the public to decide which nonprofits will dip into a $100,000 community action fund. This year, Tom’s of Maine is asking the nonprofits to share how they could also benefit from new volunteers.

Each of the top five vote-getting charities will receive $20,000. Also, Network for Good and Volunteer Match will seek to line up volunteers.

Last year, the Maine-based natural personal care products company received more than 2,000 applications from all 50 states.
