Brighton Ave. reopens after tractor-trailer hits pole

PORTLAND — Emergency workers are on the scene of a crash in which a tractor-trailer truck hit the wires holding a traffic light on Brighton Avenue, pulling them down and snapping the poles they were attached to.

Utility workers repair damage after a tractor-trailer truck hit overhead wires and tore them down, along with the poles to which they were attached, on Brighton Avenue in Portland on Friday. The accident occurred at the intersection with Taft Avenue.

The incident happened shortly after 10:30 a.m. near 1064 Brighton Ave.

Police closed a section of Brighton between the Maine Turnpike and Rand Road for about an hour while crews worked to repair the damage.
