Turnpike commuters can expect delays in New Gloucester

PORTLAND — Late night commuters who use the Maine Turnpike can expect to encounter delays in New Gloucester this week, according to Dan Morin, a spokesman for the agency.

Morin said drivers will encounter delays lasting as long as 25 minutes in both directions of the Turnpike – between miles 65 and 69.

Morin said the intermittent traffic spots on the highway are needed to accomodate the erection of new overhead signage in preparation for the Turnpike’s new open-road high-speed tolling facility. The tolling facility will open next summer.

The delays will occur between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday. The traffic stoppages should be over by the time the morning commute begins Friday.
