UMaine honors veterans; first lady to speak

AUGUSTA — Maine first lady Ann LePage will be the guest speaker at the University of Maine's first Veterans Recognition Luncheon.

Friday's event, hosted by the University of Maine Veterans Association, will take place on the Orono campus in the Memorial Union.

The event is one of many being held this week to celebrate Veterans Day. Other events include seminars, panel discussions and an information fair.

LePage says events like these are critical to ensuring that veterans have a smooth transition back to civilian life upon returning home.
