DURHAM, N.H. — The University of New Hampshire has been awarded a $6 million grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for its ocean research.

The grant was given to the school’s Joint Hydrographic Center, which specializes in hydrographic, ocean and coastal mapping sciences.

U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter, D-N.H., said Friday that the center will serve NOAA and the country through research, training and the development of state-of-the-art ocean mapping technologies.
