APPLETON, Wis. — Forrest Chadwick singled home Jake Glauser with the winning run in the top of the 10th inning to give the University of Southern Maine the 2-1 win over Millsaps College in Friday’s opening game of the 2013 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship at Fox Cities Stadium.
USM plays again Saturday evening at 5:30 EDT, meeting the winner of the tournament’s second game between Linfield College (Ore.) and Ithaca College (N.Y.)

Linfield, coached by former N.Y. Yankees third baseman Scott Brosius, led 5-0 in the third inning.
Andrew Richards, pitching five innings of scoreless relief of USM freshman starter Shylar Scates got the win.
