PORTLAND — Warren Avenue in Portland had to be closed for more than an hour Monday night after a motorcyclist lost control of his bike near BJ’s Wholesale Club.
Lt. Gary Hutcheson said the motorcylist, 24-year-old Timothy Mitchell of Falmouth, will be issued a summons for operating under the influence of alcohol.
Mitchell, who was not wearing a helmet, had to be transported to Maine Medical Center. His injuries were not considered to be life threatening, Hutcheson said.
Hutcheson said Mitchell “laid his bike down” just before 8 p.m. Witnesses said he had been operating erratically just prior to the accident.
Warren Avenue reopened to traffic around 9:15 p.m.
