Waynflete nips St. Dom's in boys soccer semifinal

The defending Western C champ will play top-seeded Hall-Dale for the regional title Wednesday.

AUBURN — Clancy Mitchell scored with 7:49 left in the second half to propel No. 3 Waynflete to a 2-1 win over No. 2 Saint Dominic Academy in a Western Class C boys soccer semifinal Saturday afternoon.

The Saints (14-1-1) opened the scoring 8:39 into the game on Tyler Furtado’s team-high 28th goal of the season.

The Flyers (12-2-2) moved into when Muhammed Suja headed in a corner kick for his eighth goal of the season 22 minutes into the second half.

Waynflete, the defending state champions, will play top-seeded Hall-Dale for the regional title Wednesday.
