Hannaford store in Wells evacuated after Freon leak

WELLS — Public safety workers have evacuated the Hannaford in Wells in response to a Freon leak, according to police.

Police at 12:30 p.m. posted a notice about the evacuation on the department's Facebook page. The notice says that members of the Wells Fire Department are at the store and that it will be closed for the duration of the incident.

The store is located off Route 1 in the Wells Plaza, near Mile Road.

Freon is a trade name for a number of gases used in refrigeration.
