WATERVILLE — Dan Crocker rallied to a three-set victory at second singles to give Windham a 3-2 victory over Lewiston in the boys' Class A state tennis championship this afternoon at Colby College.

The victory ended a winning streak of 119 matches for Lewiston, which had won seven straight state titles and last lost a Maine Principals' Association match in 2003.

The teams split doubles matches. Windham's Nate Johnson won in straight sets at No. 1 singles and Lewiston junior Eric Moorin prevailed in a three-set match at third singles before Crocker clinched with a 2-6, 7-5, 6-1 victory at second singles.

It marked the first state tennis title in school history for Windham (16-0), which lost 3-2 to Lewiston a year ago and 4-1 to Lewiston in 2006.

In other state championship matches, Lewiston defeated Gorham 5-0 to win the Class A girls' title for the fifth year in a row, Waynflete capped off a perfect season with a 5-0 victory over George Stevens Academy in Class C boys, and North Yarmouth Academy defeated Dexter 4-1 in Class C girls to win its fourth straight title.
