BOSTON — Maine’s most noteworthy runner, Joan Benoit Samuelson, was not hurt in the blast.
Samuelson was also in lockdown at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel, seated on a lobby couch between son Anders and daughter Abby, with husband Scott standing nearby.
“I’m as baffled and confused and upset as everyone,” she said. “Thank God my family is all here.”
Samuelson was just coming out of the shower when her husband told her of the blasts.
“At first I thought it was a transformer,” she said. “They had a problem with that last year.”
She soon learned otherwise.
