CLINTON — The owners of a horse farm have been charged with animal cruelty.
Brett Ingraham, 34, and his wife, Alexis Ingraham, 25, of Fair Play Farm each face seven counts of animal cruelty, said Kennebec County District Attorney Evert Fowle. They are scheduled to appear in Waterville District Court on Nov. 2.
More than two months ago, state animal welfare agents seized 15 horses and other animals from the farm. The complaint against the Ingrahams states the horses were "deprived of necessary sustenance, necessary medical attention, proper shelter or humanely clean conditions," Fowle said.
The Ingrahams have said they take in injured or malnourished horses and care for them. They have denied any wrongdoing.
