KENNEBUNK

Playground builders needed

The Kennebunk Beach Improvement Association has the funding in hand to build a new playground for children at Mother's Beach. The organization is seeking volunteers to help with the construction phase of the project.

Plans are to replace the former 16-year-old playground structure that was removed earlier this month with new nautical-themed equipment.

Two new clusters of structures will be installed - one for younger children and one for older children - with swings at either end and benches scattered throughout.

Volunteers are needed during the weekend of June 7-9 to assemble and install the equipment.

Two-hour shifts are available each day of the three-day project, though volunteers are invited to work as long as possible. No experience is necessary and tools will be provided.

Food and drinks will be served during all shifts. For more details or to register for a shift, go to www.kbia.net.

Plants and pies will be sold

The Seacoast Garden Club's annual Plant and Pie Sale will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Port Hardware on Route 35, Lower Village. The sale is the Garden Club's primary fundraising event each year.
