NORTH SCITUATE, R.I. - Rhode Island state police have arrested a Warwick man for driving while drunk while on the way to police barracks to pick up his wife who was detained on suspicion of drunken driving.
Police said Saturday that 43-year-old Stephanie Souza was arrested Friday night after a car she was driving was stopped in Cranston.
Her husband, 44-year-old Michael Souza, was stopped for a motor vehicle violation in Lincoln while traveling to the Lincoln Woods Barracks to pick up his wife. He was taken into custody on suspicion of driving while drunk.
The wife's blood alcohol count test read 0.145 and 0.138. The legal limit is 0.08. Her husband's test read 0.191 and 0.191.
They will be arraigned on Dec. 18 and Jan. 4.
The Souzas did not answer their phone Saturday.
