The Associated Press

JONESBORO — Maine State Police say a driver has died after he lost control of his car and it struck a pole.

Police said 48-year-old Daniel Snowdeal of Jonesboro was dead at the scene. He was the only person in the car.

The accident happened at about 3 a.m. Wednesday on Route 1A in Jonesboro, near the Whitneyville town line.

Police said the vehicle came to rest on its roof in a ditch.

They said speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.
