Wrecker operator Shawn Pierce walks back to shore after attaching a chain to a stolen car Wednesday at dawn in the Kennebec River in Augusta.
The car was recovered after an angler spotted the submerged vehicle lodged in the river near the walk-in boat ramp off Canal Street, according to Augusta Police Dept. Sgt. Vincente Morris.
AC Towing used two wreckers to haul the sedan to a parking lot, where police searched the vehicle and notified the owner, who left his keys in the car.
