RAYMOND — Deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office found a teen who went missing early this morning after he was caught inhaling dust cleaner.

The 17-year-old boy was caught huffing around 1 a.m. by staff for Spurwink Services, which runs homes for teens with mental illness, developmental disabilities and major personality disorders, according to Capt. Donald Goulet. The teen’s name was not released.

Staff reported the teen’s disappearance after searching for about half an hour.

Deputies John Cross and Tony Hovey searched the woods around the Samuel Road home and found the teen locked in a fetal position, leaning against a tree, Goulet said.

The deputies carried the teen out of the woods and Deputy Andrew Feeney transported the teen in his cruiser to the ambulance, Goulet said. It took Cross and Hovey about 40 or 50 minutes to find the teen and bring him to the cruiser.

The teen was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
