BOSTON — Jurors in the racketeering trial of James “Whitey” Bulger in Boston are hearing emotional testimony from relatives and friends of victims allegedly wounded or killed by Bulger and his gang.

A woman who was in a car that was shot up by ex-hit man John Martorano described Thursday how the car was riddled with bullets. Michael Milano, a friend of her boyfriend, was killed, while her boyfriend was paralyzed. She was shot in the arm.

Prosecutors say Milano was killed in 1973 when he was mistaken for another man who was the intended target.

Milano’s brother, Donald, cried as he recalled how he was on his way to work when he heard on the radio that his brother had been killed.

Bulger is accused of participating in 19 killings in the 1970s and ’80s.
