WATERVILLE - Joseph P. Sirois won't be watching the 19 porn movies that police say he stole early Tuesday.

Police caught Sirois, 20, at 2:45 a.m. with an armload of films in front of Video 54, an adult movie and novelty store at 18 Water St., said Sgt. Joseph Shepherd.

The wooden door to the shop had a large window in it that was broken, Shepherd said Tuesday.

He said Sgt. Alan Main and Officer Adam Sirois went to the shop in the city's South End early Tuesday after an alarm sounded there.

"As they arrived, they noticed the suspect coming out of the front entrance with DVDs in hand -- cradled in his arms," Shepherd said. "They noticed that the window had been broken out, so he was arrested for burglary and theft by unauthorized taking or transfer."

Sirois, of 18 Gold St., No. 1, was unable to make the $350 cash bail, so he was taken to the Kennebec County jail in Augusta, Shepherd said.

A jail spokesman said just before 5 p.m. Tuesday that Sirois was still in the jail.

He is scheduled to appear in Waterville District Court on Sept. 7 on the felony charges.

The value of the stolen movies, whose titles include "Demonic Dreamer," "Special Torment," "My Daughter's Boyfriend," and "Mommie's Home," is $950, according to Shepherd, who said each movie was estimated to cost $50.

Shepherd estimated the cost of damage to the door at $200.
