STOCKTON SPRINGS - Maine State Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 31-year-old man in the coastal town of Stockton Springs.
Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said David Linscott of Brooks was shot around 12:30 a.m. Saturday in the front yard of a house owned by 36-year-old Robert Tucker along Route 1. Linscott died at the scene of a single gunshot wound.
McCausland said friends of Linscott were with him at the time of the shooting. A short time afterward, they were located in Searsport and interviewed by police.
Investigators also interviewed Tucker. The case remains under investigation, McCausland said, and so far no charges have been filed.
Police do not know whether Tucker and Linscott knew each other.
