WESTBROOK — An assistant principal who was put on administrative leave has returned to work at Westbrook High School.
Howard Jack, who was publicly criticized by a student for his lack of response to bullying complaints, was placed on paid leave June 5 “pending the outcome and findings of an internal investigation specific to a school-related matter,” Superintendent Marc Gousse said earlier this month.
Gousse said Monday that the investigation has been completed but he cannot comment on the findings until after a 30-day appeal period, which will end July 20.
Gousse said Jack could appeal any action taken by the administration to the Westbrook School Committee.
When reached by email, Jack declined to comment. He returned to work Thursday.
Gousse hasn’t said whether the investigation was related to complaints by Victoria Pabst, a high school junior who last month made public a letter she wrote to Jack about the bullying she was experiencing at school.
She said her complaints weren’t acknowledged until other teachers got involved.
Jack has been an assistant principal at Westbrook High School since 2003.
