MADISON – A 42-year-old Madison man died from a self-inflicted gunshot Friday night, after reportedly barricading himself in a building.
“A person had contact with a boss, and the boss called us and basically said (the person) was going to do harm to himself,” Police Chief Barry Moores said.
The unidentified man was threatening to shoot at people and to burn down his East Madison Road home, according to a previous report.
Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said the man committed suicide in an outbuilding at John’s Marina, at 1397 East Madison Road. He said the man had had an earlier confrontation with a Somerset County deputy.
“He was threatening suicide and the tactical team was called,” McCausland said Saturday. “Prior to their arrival, he had shot himself, and I do not know the circumstances under which he was found.”
