PITTSFIELD – The president and CEO of Sebasticook Valley Health has resigned from that job and her position as a senior vice president of Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems.

Victoria Alexander-Lane, who led the 25-bed hospital in Pittsfield and served as a senior vice president for its parent organization, left her position Friday.

Suzanne Spruce, chief communications officer for Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems, said the organization “reached a mutually agreed upon separation” that took effect immediately.

The reasons for Alexander-Lane’s resignation are not being made public, Spruce said. Efforts to reach Alexander-Lane were unsuccessful.

Terri Vieira, who served as chief operating officer at the hospital, will take over as acting CEO.

“Terri has been with us a very long time and she is highly regarded by the hospital and the community,” said Spruce.

Alexander-Lane was appointed CEO of the hospital in February 2010. She moved to the area with her husband from Salmon, Idaho, and worked previously in administration at hospitals in California and Kansas.

“It is the policy of the hospital to not discuss particulars of how we employ our executives,” Spruce said.

Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems, based in Brewer, operates a network of seven hospitals in the state, including the one in Pittsfield.

This story has been corrected. An earlier version stated inocrrectly that Alexander-Lane served on the board of EMHS.
