FALMOUTH – Police say they found a woman’s body inside a home on Edgewater Road late Friday night after a man who got into a standoff with police gave himself up.
The man gave himself up shortly before 11 p.m., said Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety. After the man surrendered, police went into the home and found the woman’s body, McCausland said.
The man was living in the house with his mother, McCausland said, but police had not positively identified the body by midnight.
The standoff lasted about four hours. Police had reported they were dealing with a “possibly suicidal man” who had a handgun.
Once the man surrendered and the body was found, McCausland said, Maine State Police began their investigation.
