Letter to the editor: State EBT cards help pay for vacations in Florida

Working as a cashier in a Florida beach community grocery, I can say for certain that EBT cards are being used by people on vacation.

Each day I am amazed by the number of people in my line, well-tanned and relaxed, using EBT cards.

Since the state is printed on the card, I’ll often say, “What brings you to our beach from Maine (or elsewhere, even Hawaii)?” The answer is typically, “I have some time on my hands and wanted to take the family for a vacation.”

Thank the taxpayer.
