Another View: Gov. LePage gives opponents as much respect as they deserve

Where were the cries for civility from liberals when George W. Bush was in the White House?

By David W. Knudsen

It seems that some people of the liberal persuasion are agitated because Gov. LePage is constraining the efforts of Democrats in the Legislature to continue their profligate spending of taxpayer money for programs of dubious value and the placing of onerous requirements on businesses for no good purpose.

It seems that they are also agitated because the governor does not follow their politically correct ideas of speech.

It seems to me that the governor is showing them just as much respect as they have earned for their long-running ruinous policies while they have had majorities in the houses of the Legislature.

I do not recall any objections from them when there were vicious lies and hate directed at Republicans in general, and President Bush in particular.
