The story regarding the moose encounter by snowmobilers in Jackman was interesting as to who was chasing who, but more so for the unreported question regarding the firearm (“Moose charges snowmobilers in Maine,” April 19).
What was a nonresident (a New Hampshire woman) doing carrying a concealed weapon in this state? A story from another media outlet reported that she unzipped her jacket to get the gun.
Even if she had a concealed weapons permit, there is no reciprocity for concealed weapons permits between Maine and New Hampshire, and I doubt she has a nonresident hunting license!
As the saying goes, it would be interesting to “hear the rest of the story.”
