The story about trees in Longfellow Arboretum was a treasure. Too often we hurry past the remnants of the natural world that continue to survive in the face of urbanization. It was a pleasure to linger among the different varieties of trees for a moment, and learn something new about them.

I read the Press Herald from time to time as a way to keep in touch with my Maine relatives. This little story told me more about the texture of their lives than any politics or crime story.
