Waban's Day of Caring

United Way Day of Caring volunteers converged on the Waban Projects campus June 6 to spruce up cabins and grounds and prepare the boating area for summer camp.

Volunteers came from Evonik Cyro, Sanford Alternative High School, Wasco Products, Maple Valley Girl Scouts, Jagger Brothers, Pratt & Whitney, York County Federal Credit Union, Goodall Hospital, Unum and RiverRidge.

AUGUSTA

Veterans receive cookies

The Maine Veterans Administration Health Care System partnered with Girl Scouts recently to help with the distribution of cookies to veteran residents of the Togus Community Living Center.

The scouts distributed some of the 1,168 cases, or 13,944 boxes, of Girl Scout Cookies that Maine residents purchased for them during the 2012 cookies sales campaign.

KENNEBUNK

Library donation

The Kennebunk Free Library has received an original illustration by Kennebunk artist Steve Hrehovcik to display in its Maine Children's Book Illustrators Gallery.

The pen and ink and pastel illustration is of a page from the children's book "Julie's Climb," written by Wells author David Morse.

The illustration will be on permanent loan to the gallery, which is located adjacent to the Children's Room on the lower level of the library.
