DAYTON

A Lunch on the Land event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Harris Farm featuring hayride tours of the farm and a picnic lunch in the meadow at 262 Buzzell Road.

Hayrides are free. Lunch is $12 for adults and $8 for children ages 7-12; younger children eat free.

RAYMOND VILLAGE

Raymond Village Community Church, on Main Street, will host its Third Annual Community Hawaiian Luau from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children. Takeout orders welcomed.

Complimentary leis will be provided to the first 50 diners.

SPRINGVALE

The Little Red Wagon children's theater troupe will perform "The Frog Prince" at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Nasson Little Theatre, at 457 Main St.

The show features live music and comedy and is appropriate for children in pre-school through fourth grade.

BRUNSWICK

The 35th Anniversary People Plus Picnic Celebration will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at Brunswick Landing (formerly Brunswick Naval Air Station).

The Kevin Gilmore Band will perform from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Coastal Transportation will provide rides from People Plus to Brunswick Landing for $6, round trip.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair.

Luncheon will be served at $5 per person. The cost is $10 for those who want lunch and a commemorative T-shirt.

Proceeds are to benefit the Davis Foundation and MRRA.

WEST KENNEBUNK

The Animal Welfare Society will host dog adoption awareness events at three locales Saturday.

AWS crafters will display some handcrafted pet items and adoptable dogs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Alfred Festival, on the green in downtown Alfred.

A presentation on animal care and handling will be offered from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Portland Children's Museum at 142 Free St., Portland.

And the Annual Animal Medical Associates Yard Sale will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 838 Portland Road, Route 1, Saco. All proceeds to be divided between the participating groups.

RAYMOND

Hawthorne Garden Club and Hawthorne Association will host a combined fundraiser yard sale from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at Cape and Hawthorne roads.

BIDDEFORD

A new pilot program developed by Southern Maine Medical Center's Cancer Care Program is being offered to provide cancer survivors, diagnosed within the past six to 12 months, the tools and motivation to begin and sustain a healthy regimen of nutrition, exercise and emotional well-being.

The "Walk Away From Cancer" program will run from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from July 17 to Aug. 23.

The program is free to participants and their families.

The first half of each meeting will be spent walking the Eastern Trail, located directly behind SMMC, under the direction of an exercise physiologist. The remaining class time will focus on nutrition and coping skills to address depression and other emotional health topics related to a cancer diagnosis.
