Navy Seaman Apprentice Jacob Carter, son of Mary Flenner of Sevierville, Tenn., and Jonathan Carter of Fryeburg, has completed Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Carter is a 2009 graduate of Fryeburg Academy.

Navy Seaman David M. Smith, son of Valerie and David Smith of Kennebunkport, recently completed Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Smith is a 2009 graduate of Kennebunk High School.

Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer Gradie Beaulieu, brother of JayDee Beaulieu of Scarborough, has been promoted to his current rank while at Naval Station Newport in Rhode Island. He is a 1994 graduate of Biddeford High School.
