Marine Corps Pvt. Nicholas M. Doyon, a 2012 graduate of Kennebunk High School, has graduated from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

Marine Corps Pvt. Robert G. Bissonnette Jr., son of Lori and Robert Bissonnette of Harrison, recently graduated from Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. He is a 2012 graduate of Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, South Paris.

Lt. Col. Alan Tibbetts of Waterville recently retired after 33 years of service, including 23 years in the Maine Army National Guard. A ceremony was held April 30 at Camp Keyes in Augusta

VA Maine Healthcare Systems’ Portland Clinic is sponsoring a 2-kilometer “VA2K” walk and roll at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the VA facility, 144 Fore St., Portland, near the Ocean Gateway Terminal. The event is designed to raise awareness to the issues and needs of Maine’s homeless veterans. The walk and roll will benefit homeless Maine veterans and promote health and wellness. “An Evening in Support of Cumberland County Veterans” will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. May 22. A showing of the film “Welcome to Lee Maine” will be followed by a panel discussion with veterans from several conflicts. The free event is presented by Portland Maine Military and Community Network and held at One Longfellow Square, Portland. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
