The meeting will occur during a visit by the president to Fort Campbell, Ky., where he is scheduled to address service members who recently returned from overseas deployments. Obama met Wednesday in the Oval Office with Vice Adm. William H. McRaven, the commander of Joint Special Operations Command.

Fort Campbell is home to the 101st Airborne Division, which the White House says has several combat teams that have recently returned from Afghanistan.

Vice President Biden will join the president for the visit, which an administration spokesman said is intended to show support for the U.S. military and its continuing missions overseas.
