    Top Scholars

    Tom Laverriere, , Valedictorian, Summa Cum Laude, is the son of John and Karen Laverriere of Biddeford. During his time at BHS, Tom participated in Cross Country, Symphonic and Jazz Band, Theater, Regional Fine Arts, and National Honor Society. He spent many hours at the Pepperell Mill Campus involving himself in school and community projects. In the fall, Tom will be attending the Honors College at Boston University as a Film & Television major."

    Elyse Oliver, Salutatorian, Summa Cum Laude, is the daughter of Pam Small Oliver, and granddaughter of Leslye Small––both of Biddeford. During her four years at BHS, Elyse has been involved in its music and athletic programs, as well as many community development and service activities, including student representative on the Biddeford School Board and member of Biddeford's Vision 2020 Committee. President of National Honor Society, varsity basketball tri-captain, and first alto saxophone/co-section leader of the jazz ensemble's saxophones, Elyse is proud to have received the Phi Beta Kappa Award, Girls' Basketball Character Award, MMEA Outstanding Musicianship Award, and many more. This year, Elyse founded TEDxYouth@Biddeford and became Maine's first TEDx student organizer. In the fall, Elyse will attend Johns Hopkins University where she will major in International Studies, all the while continuing to hone her musical abilities.

    Cassandra Kimball,, Magna Cum Laude, is the daughter of Lisa Rapson of Biddeford. During her four years at Biddeford High School, Cassandra has participated in Interact, National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, Student Leadership Committee, and field hockey. She was named editor-in-chief of several Biddeford Regional Center of Technology’s publications. She was also BRCOT’s Student of the Month twice and has been nominated as the CTE Student of the Year. For the past six years, she has volunteered at Southern Maine Medical Center and also works a part-time job. In the fall, Cassandra will be attending the University of New England where she will major in Pharmacy.

    Emily Doyon, Magna Cum Laude, is the daughter of Michael and Ann Marie Doyon. During her four years at BHS she has participated in a variety of extra curricular activities. This past year Emily was on the varsity volleyball team and played number 1 singles on the girl’s tennis team. She was a member of both the National Honors Society and the National Technical Honors Society. Emily was the president of interact and secretary of Student Council. Through her four years she participated in the Regional Fine Arts Dance Program. She has received many awards including a Certificate of Merit from the Society of Women Engineers, the Southern Maine Activities Association Citizenship Award, and the College of the Atlantic Book Award. In the fall, Emily will be attending the University of Maine Orono where she will be majoring in Chemical Engineering.

    Emma James, Magna Cum Laude, is the daughter of Brenda Hopkins of Biddeford. During her four years at BHS, Emma's involvement in school ranged from publications, to student government, to various clubs and activities. Her senior year specifically, she was Vice President of her class, held the title of editor-in-chief of the school's award winning publication, The Pride, was the public relations officer for National Honor Society, with close media involvement with the first-ever TEDxYouth@Biddeford event, and wrote and designed for the school newspaper, The Roar. Emma will attend the honors program at the University of Southern Maine in the fall, where she will major in media studies, with an eventual concentration in public relations.

    Vie Nadeau-Carney, Magna Cum Laude, is the daughter of Paul Carney and Kathleen Nadeau of Biddeford. During her four years at Biddeford High School, Vie was a member of the National Honor Society and the KO Freshman Mentoring Program. In both programs Vie served as an influential role model to her peers. She participated in Volleyball for one year, Cross Country for three years, and Indoor Track and Outdoor Track for four years. Vie served as a captain of the Indoor and Outdoor Track teams for two years. She participated in the State Championships for nine seasons of running, and placed 7th overall in the 800 meter run during her last Indoor Track season. Vie was elected Most Valuable on her Cross Country team twice, and her Indoor Track team twice. In the fall of 2013, Vie will be attending the University of Maine at Orono to study International Affairs and French.

    Katelyn Lebreux, Magna Cum Laude, is the daughter of Alan Lebreux and Karen Ruel of Biddeford. During her four years at Biddeford High School, Katelyn has been an active member of the National Honor Society, and served as Treasurer of Student Council, chairperson of the BHS Kick-off Mentoring Team, as well as Treasurer and Vice President of the Rotary Interact Club. She was also a four-year varsity athlete, participating in Volleyball, Indoor Track, and Softball in each of her high school years, receiving the Golden Tiger Award for this accomplishment. She was a Class A State Volleyball Champion in 2010. Katelyn was also junior and senior captain of her Volleyball and Indoor Track teams, as well as senior captain of her Softball team. Katelyn was the recipient of the Bentley University book award. She has made All-Conference Teams, for all sports as well as All-Academic Teams and received other prestigious awards such as the Coaches Award, Tiger Pride, Most Dedicated and Most Valuable Player. In the fall, Katelyn will be attending Bentley University where she will major in Accounting and play Division II softball.

    Nicholas T. LeBlond, Magna Cum Laude, is the son of Thomas and Denise LeBlond of Biddeford. During his four years at BHS, Nick participated in football, basketball and baseball, receiving All-Academic honors in each sport and received All-Conference recognition for basketball. He was a James J. Fitzpatrick Award semi-finalist in football and is a recipient of the Scholar-Athlete Award from the State of Maine Chapter of the National Football Foundation. He was named captain for both football and basketball teams his senior year. He is a member of the National Honor Society and is a recipient of the Holy Cross Book Award. Nick has been a member of Student Council for all four years at BHS and in his senior year was the Student Council/Student Body President, organizing a school-wide blood drive. As a member of the Interact Club and Natural Helpers, he has participated in several community service projects including Habitat for Humanity, Community Bike Shop, United Way Day of Caring, and Operation Christmas Child. Nick has also participated in the new BHS Mentor Program for incoming freshman. He was Biddeford/Saco Rotary Club Student of the Month and attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Conference. He was recently an exchange student for two weeks in Nantes, France. He has also been to Honduras on a mission trip. Nick is employed at Olympia Sports and Biddeford Parks and Recreation. In the fall, Nick will attend The University of New England to study athletic training with a physical therapy designation.

    Ian Robinson, Magna Cum Laude, is the son of Christopher and Brigitte (Neveux) Robinson of Biddeford. During his four years at BHS, Ian participated in Student Council, National Honor Society, Interact, Freshman Mentoring, Football, Basketball, and Tennis. His senior year Ian was elected Student Body Vice President and Treasurer of National Honor Society as well as captain of the Football and Tennis teams. He was also named to the SMAA All-Academic team for football and basketball. In the fall, Ian will be attending the University of New Hampshire where he will study Business Administration in the Honors program.

    Katie Delcourt, Magna Cum Laude, is the daughter of Norman and Ann Delcourt of Biddeford. During her four years at BHS, Katie has participated in Jazz, Symphonic, and Marching Band, Choir, Tennis, National Honors Society, Regional Fine Arts, Color Guard, and Theater. During her senior year, she was also a freshmen mentor. Katie has performed at many occasions including the Portland Symphony Orchestra’s Youth Concert and has received multiple music awards, including two gold medals with the Old Orchard Beach Marching Band and third place at Jazz States with the BHS Jazz Band in 2011 and 2013. She enjoys singing and playing piano especially, but also plays flute, piccolo, percussion, guitar, violin, and bass. This year, she had the honor of playing the lead role of Reno Sweeny in BHS’s musical Anything Goes. In the fall, Katie will be attending the University of Maine where she will study voice and piano as a Music Education major and continue with musical theater.
