The University of Maine women’s basketball team is searching for ball kids for home games during the upcoming season. Boys and girls in grades 1-7 are eligible. Ball kids will receive a free T-shirt and free admission to the game, and will sit under each hoop and assist with running down loose balls along the baseline, as well as various other tasks. Registration is open for the St. Peter’s Grand Slam Tennis Middle School Match Play program, which will be held every from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays. The cost is $25, and players can register weekly. For more information, call 831-8529 or email

The University of Southern Maine women’s basketball team will host its annual Huskies’ Shooting Clinic on from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Costello Sports Complex in Gorham. The Jason Otter Basketball Camps will be held Nov. 9-11 at Orono Middle School. Camps are for players in sixth grade and older. There will be a two-day shooting camp from Nov. 9-10, a one-day shooting camp on Nov. 9, an advanced shooting/game shooting camp on Nov. 10 and a combo camp on Nov. 11. For more information visit

The MBR All-Star Weekend will be held on Saturday and Sunday at Central Maine Community College in Auburn. This event features a weekend of high school all-star games by class. Tickets are $5 for the entire day. For more information visit

Freeport High will hold its winter sports preseason information night at 7 p.m. Nov. 15. Players and parents will have a chance to meet coaches and learn the expectations of the programs.

The Maine Volleyball Summit will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at Colby College. The event is open to fans, players coaches, officials, league organizers, athletic directors and boosters. The registration fee is $15 through Nov. 15 or $25 after Nov. 15, and includes lunch, refreshments and a chance to win prizes. For more information visit

The Maine Track Club Turkey Trot 5K will be held Sunday, Nov. 24, at 9 a.m. in Cape Elizabeth. The entry fee is $20 for preregistration or $25 on race day, and entries will be capped at 900. Participants are invited to bring a nonperishable food item for Wayside Food Programs.
