WATERVILLE — Colin Downey scored two goals Saturday to lead Bowdoin to a 5-0 victory against Suffolk in the Bowdoin-Colby Faceoff Classic.

Downey scored at 13:41 of the second period, then at 15:37 of the third, 17 seconds before Connor Quinn got the final goal.

Gabriel Renaud and Matt Rubinoff also scored for Bowdoin (3-2-1) against Suffolk (3-4-1). Steve Messina stopped 22 shots for his fourth career shutout.

COLBY 4, UMASS-DARTMOUTH 4: Ben Chwick scored unassisted on a power play with 11 seconds left in regulation and the Mules (2-2-2) went on to tie the Corsairs (2-5-1) in the Bowdoin-Colby Faceoff Classic at Waterville.

The Mules went ahead 2-1 on short-handed goals 1:26 apart in the second period, with the first tally at 9:47.

Yuriy Sokayev scored in the final minute of the second and Tanner Zacharewicz made it 3-2 after 2:11 of the third. Tyler Lingel tied it for Colby at 17:14 before Dmitry Antipin put the Corsairs up 4-3 with 1:21 to play.

UNE 4, SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE 1: Four players scored for the Nor’easters (3-5-1) against the Penmen (7-2) in the Manchester Police Athletic League Stovepipe tournament at Manchester, N.H.

David Goff broke a 1-1 tie at 13:40, then Zach Lokey converted on a power play at 14:51.

Zeth Zielinski also scored on a power play in the first period and Nick Kolb notched his first of the season late in the third.

Colby Drost of UNE and Tyler Holske of Southern New Hampshire each made 32 saves.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

BOWDOIN 2, HOLY CROSS 1: Madeline Lane scored two power-play goals, including the winner with 2:10 remaining, as the Polar Bears (2-2) made the most of their 13 shots in a win over the Crusaders (5-3) at Worcester, Mass.

MAINE 1, PENN STATE 1: The Black Bears (0-12-4) and Nittany Lions (3-12-2) scored in the second period and skated to a tie at University Park, Pa.

Brianne Kilgour of Maine tied it in the final minute of the second period when she put in a feed from Karissa Kirkup.

Shannon Yoxheimer scored at 14:45 of the second for Penn State.

Mariah Fujimagari made 30 saves for Maine, which outshot the Nittany Lions 45-30.

WILLIAMS 4, UNE 2: The Ephs (2-3) scored three quick goals in the third period and topped the Nor’easters (3-4-3) at Biddeford.

Gabrielle Vukasin broke a 1-1 tie at 14:27 of the third, Hanna Beattie followed 26 seconds later and Emily Krueger got the final goal at 16:34.

Emily Corrales scored unassisted in the second period and Jenna Poulin had the other for UNE with three seconds remaining.

Samantha Scobee made 55 saves for the Nor’easters.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

WISCONSIN-GREEN BAY 66, MAINE 49: Breannah Ranger had 18 points and eight rebounds as Wisconsin-Green Bay (6-1) defeated Maine (4-2) in the Black Bear Thanksgiving tournament final at Bangor

The Phoenix led 26-19 at halftime and Maine never threatened in the second half.

Liz Wood led Maine with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Ashleigh Roberts added 13 points and six rebounds for the Black Bears.
