Moonlight Walk

7:30 p.m. in Biddeford

The Eastern Trail Alliance this week is leading a walk on the Biddeford section of the Eastern Trail. The route will include an area that has seen a great deal of beaver activity, with evidence visible from the trail. The trail leader requests no flashlights or pets be brought on the hike. Meet at the rear of the Southern Maine Health Care parking lot. Sturdy footwear and ski poles are recommended. For information, call 283-4487.

The Western Maine Fly Fishing Expo welcomes anglers at the Bethel Inn and Conference Center this week. The Expo is sponsored by the Mollyockett chapter of Trout Unlimited. Exhibitors include Maine and New Hampshire outfitters and guide services, sporting camps, wildlife artists and authors, and state biologists. There will be seminars on getting started in fly fishing and ideas for trips to fly-fishing destinations. Proceeds of this year’s auction will go toward the construction of the Veterans Casting Platform at Songo Locks on Sebago Lake in honor of Maine’s wounded servicemen and women. Mud Season March

The Boothbay Region Land Trust is leading a hike this week at its Colby preserve in celebration of mud season. Shake off that cabin fever and get outside, even if it means getting a little dirty. Hear nationally recognized fly tier and fly fishing expert Don Bastian share what he has learned over the years about pond and still water fishing for trout.
