DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Mike Boornazian scored 20 points to lead Bates to a 66-61 win over Washington & Lee in a men’s basketball game at the Ocean Center.

Boornazian, who had five 3-pointers, broke a 10-10 tie with a layup and a free throw 7:14 in the first half.

The Bobcats never lost the lead the rest of the way, though the Generals pulled to within 48-45 with 6:15 remaining.

Boornazian took over from there, hitting consecutive 3-pointers on Bates’ next four possessions to give the Bobcats a 60-48 lead.

Graham Safford had 14 points, Mark Brust added 13 and Ed Bogdoanovich finished with 11 for Bates.

(1) DUKE 88, CORNELL 47
: Seth Curry scored 20 points, Mason Plumlee added 18 and top-ranked Duke reeled off 23 straight points in a rout at Durham, N.C.
Freshman Rasheed Sulaimon had 16 points and Quinn Cook had a career-high 12 assists while showing up all over the box score for the Blue Devils (10-0).
Playing as the No. 1 team for the 210th time under Mike Krzyzewski – but the first since February 2011 – they posted two key season highs, shooting 56.7 percent and forcing 26 turnovers

:  Peyton Siva’s career highs of five 3-pointers and 12 assists helped the Cardinals roll at home.

It was the first meeting between Cardinals Coach Rick Pitino and his son, Richard Pitino, 30.

(6) INDIANA 93, MOUNT ST. MARY’S 54: Four days after a shocking loss to in-state rival Butler that cost the Hoosiers the No. 1 ranking, Cody Zeller had 16 points and six rebounds and Christian Watford added 15 points and eight rebounds as Indiana (10-1) won in a runaway at Bloomington, Ind.

(8) FLORIDA 82, SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA 43: Mike Rosario scored a season-high 20 points to go along with six rebounds and four assists, as Florida (8-1) won easily at Gainesville, Fla.

The Gators bounced back from a loss at No. 4 Arizona four days earlier, winning their only home game over a 40-day span.

(11) CINCINNATI 60, XAVIER 45: Sean Kilpatrick scored 25 points and led a second-half surge that carried Cincinnati (11-0) to a win at home, amicably renewing their crosstown rivalry one year after it was marred by a brawl.

(17) CREIGHTON 71, TULSA 54: Avery Dingman had 14 of his career-high 21 points in the second half, and Doug McDermott overcame a slow start to score 16 as Creighton (11-1) won at Omaha, Neb.

(22) NOTRE DAME 85, KENNESAW STATE 57: Jack Cooley had 14 points and 13 rebounds as Notre Dame won at South Bend, Ind.
Cooley has five double-doubles in seven games. Jerian Grant added 14 points for the Irish (11-1).

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

(1) STANFORD 53, (21) SOUTH CAROLINA 49: Chiney Ogwumike had 21 points and 15 rebounds, Mikaela Ruef had a tiebreaking basket with 53 seconds left and Stanford (10-0) held on to beat South Carolina (10-1) in a tough contest at Columbia, S.C.

(2) CONNECTICUT 97, OAKLAND 25: Bria Hartley and Breanna Stewart each scored 21 points and Brianna Banks had 18 to lead Connecticut (9-0) in a rout at Hartford, Conn.

Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis had 14 points and nine rebounds for UConn (9-0). Stewart had 13 rebounds, eight on the offensive end, and the Huskies had a 56-26 edge on the boards.

Hartley scored 19 points in the first half when UConn shot 66 percent and led 61-12. The Huskies shot 51 percent for the game and Oakland just 15 percent (7 for 47).

(5) NOTRE DAME 100, ALABAMA A&M 39: Kayla McBride scored 16 points to lead four teammates in double figures as the Irish (7-1) cruised in the first round of the World Vision Classic at Las Vegas.

Skylar Diggins and Whitney Holloway had 15 points each for Notre Dame while Madison Cable added 13.

(17) NORTH CAROLINA 76, EAST CAROLINA 67: Tierra Ruffin-Pratt scored 24 points and North Carolina (11-1) pulled away in the second half at the Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Krista Gross had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Tar Heels, who trailed 32-31 at the half.

FOOTBALL

OREGON: Oregon is reportedly headed toward a hearing with the NCAA committee on infractions after it couldn’t resolve an investigation of the football coaching staff’s use of a scouting service.

The NCAA investigated Oregon after questions arose over a 2010 payment of $25,000 to Willie Lyles and his Houston-based recruiting service.

WISCONSIN: Two of the three men accused of assaulting Wisconsin running back Montee Ball this summer pleaded guilty to battery charges, but were given a chance to avoid time in prison.
Wendell J. Venerable, 21, and Robert A. Wilks, 22, pleaded guilty and were placed in a first-offenders program.
