FRYEBURG — Gabe Perry scored on a penalty kick with 6:53 remaining in the second overtime to lift No. 8 Fryeburg Academy to a 1-0 win over ninth-seeded Freeport in a Western Class B boys’ soccer preliminary game Saturday.

Blaine Andreoli stopped three shots for the shutout as Fryeburg (5-7-3) advanced to a quarterfinal Wednesday against top-seeded Yarmouth.

Brendan Qualls made nine saves for Freeport (4-9-2).

 

FALMOUTH 5, BONNY EAGLE 0: Luke Velas scored two of his three goals in the first half as the sixth-ranked Yachtsmen (9-4-2) downed the 11th-seeded Scots (5-8-2) in a Western Class A prelim at Falmouth.

Jake Grade added a pair of second-half goals for Falmouth. Nigel Dunn collected two assists. Will D’Agostino made two saves to record the shutout.

GORHAM 3, WINDHAM 0: Cody Elliott scored three times in the final 26:38 to send the fifth-seeded Rams (11-3-1) to a Western Class A preliminary win over the No. 12 Eagles (3-9-3) at Gorham.

Tyler Richman assisted on the second goal with 14:41 remaining, and Elliott finished the hat trick with 2:52 left.

Matt Bennett stopped two shots for the shutout.

 

WAYNFLETE 7, LISBON 2: Henry Cleaves scored two first-half goals for the sixth-seeded Flyers (9-4-2), who took a 3-1 halftime lead and cruised to a Western Class C preliminary win over the 11th-seeded Greyhounds (6-7-2) at Portland.

Aaron Lee added a goal and an assist, and Carter Burrowes had two assists.

Abel Alemayo, Isaac Scher, Serge Nyirikamba and Joe Schnier also scored for Waynflete.

Austin Bedford scored for Lisbon, which benefited from an own goal in the first half.

 

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 2, POLAND 0: Austin Carson opened the scoring midway through the first half and Bryce Hayman added an insurance goal in the second half as the seventh-seeded Patriots (6-7-2) downed the 10th-ranked Knights (3-10-2) in a Western Class B prelim at Gray.

Brandon McNally finished with four saves to record the shutout for the Patriots, who outshot the Knights, 23-5.

Poland keeper Zach Lowe made 17 saves.

 

SACOPEE VALLEY 2, MONMOUTH ACADEMY 0: Jack Reynolds scored midway through the second half, Devon Day added a goal on a direct kick in the final minute, and the eighth-seeded Hawks (8-3-4) edged the ninth-seeded Mustangs (9-6) in a Western Class C prelim at South Hiram.

Mike Pingree earned the shutout with seven saves.

 

OLD TOWN 3, MT. VIEW 0: Tyler Gifford scored a pair of goals to lead the fifth-seeded Coyotes (9-5-1) past the 12th-ranked Mustangs (5-8-2) in an Eastern Class B prelim at Old Town.

WATERVILLE 3, CARIBOU 2: Tommy Sampson scored with a minute left in overtime, lifting the eighth-seeded Panthers (9-4-2) over the ninth-seeded Vikings (6-8-1) in an Eastern Class B prelim at Waterville.

Sampson’s winning shot hit the bottom of the crossbar and deflected down into the back of the net. Zack Disch assisted on the goal.

Caribou led 2-1 at the half on goals by Kameron Manter and Matthew Milliard. Christian Rustad scored for Waterville in the first half.

 

ERSKINE ACADEMY 2, HERMON 1: Gage Currie scored nine seconds into the first overtime to lift the seventh-seeded Eagles (12-3) to an Eastern Class B prelim win in South China.

Currie got a touch on the opening kickoff in overtime, then the ball bounced off a defender to teammate Joe York, who fed Currie cutting toward the goal.

The 10th-seeded Hawks (4-10-1) took the lead midway through the second half on Hunter Clukey’s unassisted goal. Currie tied the game three minutes later when his free kick deflected off the goalie’s hands.

Erskine keeper Jared Gartley made four saves.
