TAMPA, Fla. — Tuukka Rask and the Boston Bruins put together an all-around strong performance.

Rask stopped 23 shots and five Boston players scored to help the Bruins beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-0 on Saturday night.

David Krejci, Adam McQuaid, Patrice Bergeron, Chris Kelly and Shawn Thornton scored for the Bruins.

“Everybody showed up from the drop of the puck tonight, and obviously it shows on the result,” Bergeron said.

With the game well in hand late in the third, Boston fans in attendance began chanting “Let’s go, Red Sox!”

“Not that I don’t like you guys, but I’d like to check out the game right now,” Thornton said with a smile. “Everybody knows I’m a fairly big Red Sox fan.”

Krejci stopped a nine-game goal drought to put the Bruins up 1-0 from the low slot off a pass from Milan Lucic 1:32 into the game. Krejci has a point in four straight games.

After McQuaid scored his first goal in 24 games at 4:37 of the second, goals 55 seconds apart later in the period by Bergeron (14:52) and Kelly (15:47) made it 4-0.

Thornton extended Boston’s advantage to 5-0 just 34 seconds into the third as the left wing ended his 29-game goal drought.

COYOTES 5, RED WINGS 2: Coyotes goalie Mike Smith scored a goal from his own crease with just over a second left to punctuate Phoenix’s home victory over Detroit.

Smith was already having a good night before sending a wrist shot the length of the ice into the vacated Red Wings net. Smith made 31 saves before scoring his first NHL goal.

PENGUINS 4, CANUCKS 3: Evgeni Malkin scored in the third round of the shootout, Marc-Andre Fleury made the deciding stop on Ryan Kesler, and the Penguins remained unbeaten at home.

Sidney Crosby moved into a tie atop the NHL leaderboard with his seventh goal of the season, and had two assists. Chris Kunitz netted his fourth goal and added two assists, and rookie defenseman Olli Maatta scored his first NHL goal.

OILERS 3, SENATORS 1: Ryan-Nugent Hopkins scored two goals, including one into an empty net, to help Edmonton beat host Ottawa and snap a five-game losing streak.

Jordan Eberle added a goal, and Devan Dubnyk made 35 saves for the Oilers (2-6-1).

Chris Neil had the only goal for the Senators (3-3-2), and Robin Lehner made 18 saves in his second start of the season.

An extended power play early in the third period failed to provide the Oilers with any insurance. Ottawa failed to capitalize on momentum created by killing off a 5-on-3 power play that lasted a full 2 minutes.

DEVILS 4, RANGERS 0: Cory Schneider made 22 saves for his first shutout with New Jersey, and the host Devils become the last NHL team to win a game this season.

Andrei Loktionov, Adam Henrique, Michael Ryder and Dainius Zubrus scored for the Devils (1-4-3), who ended their worst start to a season with a laugher against the injury-depleted Rangers. New York (2-5) has only two wins on its season-opening, nine-game road trip.

Jaromir Jagr and Marek Zidlicky added two assists apiece. The shutout was the 10th of Schneider’s NHL career.

BLACKHAWKS 3, MAPLE LEAFS 1: Bryan Bickell sparked Chicago’s big second period with his first goal of the season, helping the Blackhawks beat Toronto.

Brandon Pirri added a goal and an assist for the Blackhawks, who have won four of five. Michael Kostka scored his first career goal against his former team, and Corey Crawford had 19 saves.

Toronto center Dave Bolland was scoreless in his first game in Chicago since he was traded to his hometown Leafs in June.

HURRICANES 4, ISLANDERS 3: Jiri Tlusty scored his first two goals of the season, and Cam Ward made 22 saves as Carolina won at Uniondale, N.Y.

CAPITALS 4, BLUE JACKETS 1: Braden Holtby made 37 saves and Martin Erat assisted on three Washington goals in the host Capitals’ win over Columbus.

PREDATORS 2, CANADIENS 1: Seth Jones’ goal with 1:27 left spoiled a 35-save performance by Montreal’s Carey Price and helped Nashville win on the road.

Captain Shea Weber also scored for the Predators, who got 28 saves from Pekka Rinne. Brendan Gallagher scored the only goal for Montreal.

AVALANCHE 4, SABRES 2: Matt Duchene, Gabriel Landeskog and Ryan O’Reilly each had a goal and an assist to lead Colorado to victory at Buffalo.

PANTHERS 2, WILD 1: Brad Boyes and Jonathan Huberdeau scored in a shootout, and host Florida snapped a three-game losing streak.

Florida goaltender Tim Thomas, the former Boston Bruin, stopped Zach Parise and Mikko Koivu in the shootout.
