BOSTON — The Detroit Pistons have been known for their inside scoring this season.

Brandon Jennings made sure teams realize they’re dangerous from the outside, too.

Jennings scored 28 points, making a key 3-pointer with 46.7 seconds left, and matched his season high with 14 assists Wednesday night and the Pistons held on for a 107-106 win over the Boston Celtics.

Detroit trailed by 21 points in the first half after giving up 42 points in the opening quarter. It was the most given up in a quarter by the Pistons and Boston’s season high.

Jared Sullinger scored 19 points, Jordan Crawford had 17, Avery Bradley 14 and Jeff Green 13 for Boston, which lost for just the third time in nine games.

“It’s easy for all of us, myself included, to be really focused on ‘We had a 19-point lead and didn’t win the game,’ but we got outplayed for 36 minutes,” Boston Coach Brad Stevens said.

Green missed a driving one-hander wildly just before the horn sounded. He said it was the play that Stevens drew up.

“Yeah, but not every shot falls,” he said. “Josh made a good attempt, trying to block it. I redirected my shot and kind of missed it.”

HEAT 97, PACERS 94: Dwyane Wade scored 32 points, Ray Allen hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with just under a minute left and host Miami erased a 15-point deficit in the second half to beat Indiana.

LeBron James scored 24 on a bad left ankle for the Heat, who closed within a game of the Eastern Conference-leading Pacers. Chris Bosh added 15 points for Miami, including a 3 that tied it late in the fourth.

James set up Allen for the 3 that put Miami in front for good with 59.5 seconds left, capping a 10-0 run.

Paul George scored 25 points for the Pacers but missed a 3-pointer that would have tied it with four seconds left. David West had 23.

TIMBERWOLVES 120, TRAIL BLAZERS 109: Kevin Love had 29 points, 15 rebounds and nine assists to lead Minnesota at Minneapolis.

Nikola Pekovic had 30 points and nine rebounds, and Kevin Martin scored 22 for the Timberwolves, who led by 32 in the second quarter and held off a charge in the second half from the Blazers.

Damian Lillard had 36 points, six assists and six rebounds for the weary Trail Blazers, who lost for the first time in six games.

BOBCATS 104, RAPTORS 102: Kemba Walker hit a buzzer-beating jump shot in overtime and Charlotte snapped a three-game losing streak in Toronto.

Walker had 29 points and Al Jefferson had 24 points – five in overtime – and 11 rebounds for the Bobcats.

DeMar DeRozan scored 30 points for the Raptors.

JAZZ 86, MAGIC 82: Trey Burke had a career-high 30 points and eight assists, Gordon Hayward added 15 points and Utah held on at Orlando.

The Magic had a chance to tie it in the final seconds, but Jameer Nelson’s layup rolled off the rim and was rebounded by Utah with just three seconds left. Hayward then hit two free throws.

Nelson led Orlando with 17 points, and Nikola Vucevic had 14 points and 14 rebounds.

MAVERICKS 105, GRIZZLIES 88: Dirk Nowitzki scored 20 points in his return to the lineup and host Dallas beat short-handed Memphis.

Nowitzki added six rebounds, five assists, two steals and a blocked shot.

HAWKS 124, KINGS 107: Kyle Korver made seven consecutive 3-point attempts on his way to a season-high 28 points, leading host Atlanta past Sacramento.

Al Horford added 25 points and 10 rebounds for the Hawks, who have won 5 of 7. Jeff Teague had 18 points and 15 assists.

DeMarcus Cousins scored 28 points, Rudy Gay had 22 and Isaiah Thomas added 20 for the Kings.

WIZARDS 113, NETS 107: John Wall scored 21 points and made two big defensive plays against Deron Williams down the stretch to lead Washington to a win at Brooklyn.

Nene added 17 points in his return from injury for the Wizards.

Paul Pierce had a season-high 27 points for the Nets, and Brook Lopez added 22 after missing two games with a sprained left ankle. Joe Johnson had 20.

KNICKS 107, BUCKS 101: Tyson Chandler returned from injury, J.R. Smith hit a go-ahead jumper in the second overtime and New York won at Milwaukee.

Carmelo Anthony scored 29 points and Beno Udrih added a season-high 21 for the Knicks.

Chandler had nine points and nine rebounds. Smith had 19 points.

Brandon Knight scored a career-high 36 for the Bucks.

SPURS 108, SUNS 101: Manu Ginobili scored 11 of his 24 points in the final four-plus minutes, and San Antonio pulled away at Phoenix, snapping the Suns’ five-game winning streak.
