Cheverus crushes Sanford for 25th straight win

SANFORD — Donald Goodrich rushed for 173 yards and a touchdown as two-time defending Class A champ Cheverus High won its 25th consecutive game, beating Sanford 43-6 at Cobb Stadium in a season-opening game.

Cheverus led only 13-6 late in the third quarter when Goodrich broke off a 46-yard touchdown run that swung the momentum back in the Stags' favor.

Brent Green rushed for 68 yards and two touchdowns for Cheverus and quarterback Liam Fitzpatrick ran for 74 yards and a touchdown. He also threw a touchdown pass.
