WATERVILLE — Andrew Madlinger scored 17 points to lead five Polar Bears in double figures Tuesday night in Bowdoin’s 106-42 rout of Thomas College (6-11) in men’s basketball.

Matt Mathias and Lucas Hausman finished with 16 points for the visitors.

Bowdoin (16-1) led 56-23 at halftime after shooting 62.5 percent from 3-point range. Mathias went 4 for 5 on 3-pointers.

The Polar Bears were 15 of 15 from the foul line.

Thomas is 6-11.

COLBY 76, MAINE MARITIME 41: Ryan Jann scored a game-high 17 points and Sam Willson came off the bench to contribute 15 points and seven rebounds as the Mules (9-8) downed the Mariners (1-15) at Castine.

Chris Hudnut added 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Patrick Stewart grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds for the Mules.

The Mariners were led by Kyle Boucher’s 13 points.

 

BATES 78, UMPI 53: Marcus Delpeche led four Bobcats in double figures with 13 points as host Bates (10-7) rolled past the University of Maine at Presque Isle (7-9).

The Bobcats led by as many as 40 points in the second half.

USM 75, UMASS-BOSTON 68: Cole Libby scored 14 second-half points to help the University of Southern Maine (6-12, 2-6 LEC) down UMass-Boston (5-13, 0-8) in Gorham.

Libby finished with 18 points and six assists to lead the Huskies. Conor Sullivan scored 15, Tyler Penney 14 and James Odneal 11.

 

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

USM 55, UMASS-BOSTON 47: Erin McNamara scored the final four points as the University of Southern Maine (12-6, 5-3 LEC) sealed the outcome over UMass-Boston (11-7, 3-5) at Gorham.

The visitors trailed by six points with 1:51 left. McNamara extended the lead with a layup at 1:22 and hit two free throws with less than a minute remaining to regain a 10-point cushion.

Rebecca Knight led the Huskies with 12 points.

 

BOWDOIN 85, HUSSON 50: Allie Piscina scored 12 points and Selena Lorrey added 11 as the Polar Bears (17-2) cruised over the Eagles (8-8) at Brunswick.

Kirsten Prue dished out 11 assists and Sara Binkhorst chipped in 10 points for the Polar Bears, who never trailed.

Husson was paced by Samira Cruz, who made three 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 15 points.

MEN’S HOCKEY

BOWDOIN 4, SOUTHERN MAINE 1: Kyle Lockwood and Connor Quinn each scored in the opening minutes to lead the Polar Bears (11-5-2) over the Huskies (4-11-5) at Brunswick.

Colin Downey and Quinn put the game out of reach with short-handed goals 6 seconds apart in the third period.

The Huskies cut the deficit to 2-1 with 7:45 left to play when Tyler Simmons banked a rebound.

Steve Messina stopped 31 shots for Bowdoin and USM’s Dylan Wells warded off 39.
