BANGOR — Sophie Weckstrom went 6 for 8 from the floor with four 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 16 points to lead the University of Maine women to a 65-53 win over Binghamton at the Cross Insurance Center on Sunday afternoon.

Leading by one early in the first half, the Black Bears (13-11, 7-4 America East) went on a 12-0 run to take a 19-6 lead over the Bearcats (4-20, 1-10).

Maine extended the lead to 33-18 by halftime and led by as many as 26 points in the second half en route to its third win in a row.

Liz Wood added 13 points, six rebounds and six assists for the Black Bears and Chantel Charles scored eight points.

BOWDOIN 92, MIDDLEBURY 55: Sara Binkhorst scored a game-high 16 points to lead the 22nd-ranked Polar Bears (19-3, 6-2 NESCAC), who took control of the game with an early 14-0 run and cruised to a win over the Panthers (7-14, 1-7) at Middlebury, Vt.

(1) UCONN 81, (4) LOUISVILLE 64: Breanna Stewart had 24 points and 10 rebounds at Storrs, Conn., to lead the top-ranked Huskies in a rematch of last season’s national championship game.

The Huskies (25-0, 12-0 American Athletic Conference) led by 11 at the half and when Louisville (23-2, 11-1) got within 47-40, Stewart answered with five straight points to ignite a 16-5 run that put the game away.

The win was UConn’s 31st straight dating back to last season’s title run. That’s the fifth-longest winning streak in school history.

(2) NOTRE DAME 101, SYRACUSE 64: Jewell Loyd scored 23 points, Kayla McBride added 18 and the Irish romped in an easy win at South Bend, Ind., to improve their record to 23-0, matching the best start in school history.

WASHINGTON 87, (3) STANFORD 82: Kelsey Plum scored 23 points and Washington (13-10, 6-6 Pac-12) held off a late charge by Stanford for an upset at Seattle. The loss snapped a 62-game road conference winning streak for the Cardinal (22-2, 11-1).

(7) BAYLOR 81, (12) OKLAHOMA STATE 64: Odyssey Sims scored 33 points with three 3-pointers and Baylor clinched its 14th consecutive 20-win season with a win at Waco, Texas.

The Lady Bears (20-3, 10-1 Big 12) have won 33 consecutive conference home games.

(9) PENN STATE 74, OHIO STATE 54: Maggie Lucas had 23 points, including 12 during a 21-3 run, to lead the Nittany Lions (18-5, 9-2 Big Ten) at Columbus, Ohio.

(10) MARYLAND 95, CLEMSON 43: Alyssa Thomas had 22 points, seven rebounds and four assists as the Terrapins breezed to a win at College Park, Md.

Brionna Jones scored 14 for the Terrapins (19-4, 7-3 Atlantic Coast Conference), who have won three straight blowouts following a three-game skid. Maryland defeated Syracuse by 25 points and beat Pittsburgh by 48 before dismissing Clemson without difficulty.

ARIZONA 68, (11) ARIZONA STATE 49: Carissa Crutchfield scored a career-high 20 points to lead Arizona (5-18, 1-11 Pac 12) to a huge upset of Arizona State (20-4, 9-3) at Tucson, Ariz.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

MIDDLEBURY 69, BOWDOIN 66: John Swords scored 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the Polar Bears (18-3, 5-3 NESCAC), but Bowdoin still fell to the Panthers (15-7, 5-3) at Middlebury, Vt.

The Polar Bears tied it at 66 on a 3-pointer by Grant White with 2.2 seconds left, but were charged with a technical foul immediately after the basket when they called a timeout and did not have any left.

Joey Kizel went 1 for 2 at the line to put the Panthers ahead, then made both shots when he was fouled with 1.3 seconds left.

White also scored 16 points for the Polar Bears.

(1) SYRACUSE 57, CLEMSON 44: C.J. Fair scored 19 points, Jerami Grant added 12 and the Orange won at home to remain unbeaten.

Syracuse (23-0, 10-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) extended its school record for wins to start a season and matched the program mark for consecutive wins, established in the 1916-17 and 1917-18 seasons.

It was the 10th time Clemson (15-7, 6-4) had faced the No. 1 team in the nation, but the Tigers have yet to win one.

(2) ARIZONA 76, OREGON STATE 54: Aaron Gordon had 17 points, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson added 16 and the Wildcats (23-1, 10-1 Pac-12) rediscovered their shooting touch in a win at Tucson, Ariz.

WISCONSIN 60, (9) MICHIGAN STATE 58: Traevon Jackson hit a pull-up jumper with 2.1 seconds left for Wisconsin, 10 seconds after Michigan State’s Adreian Payne had tied it with a 3, as the Badgers (19-5, 6-5 Big Ten) upset the Spartans (20-4, 9-2) at Madison, Wis.

ST. JOHN’S 70, (12) CREIGHTON 65: D’Angelo Harrison scored 19 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer with 2:08 to play, and St. John’s upset Creighton at New York.

(22) CONNECTICUT 75, CENTRAL FLORIDA 55: Lasan Kromah and Shabazz Napier each had 17 points and seven rebounds as the Huskies (18-5, 6-4 American Athletic Conference) won handily at Orlando, Fla.
