BIDDEFORD — Brian Curit, who coached Biddeford High football from 1994 to 2006, is returning as head coach of the Tigers after the school board approved his nomination Tuesday night.
Curit, 49, succeeds Scott Descoteaux, who retired after six seasons as head coach to pursue a career in school administration. Biddeford went 3-5 last fall.
Back in 2007, Descoteaux succeeded Curit, who succeeded Mike Landry in 1994. The Tigers won a Class A state championship in Curit's first season and went to the playoffs in the subsequent 12 seasons.
In 13 seasons under Curit, the Tigers had an overall record of 91-38. They were Western Maine Class A runners-up in 2002 to Portland and in 2003 to Deering. Curit coached two Fitzpatrick Trophy winners in Bob Parisien in 1998 and Phil Bourassa in 2003.
Curit teaches social studies at Biddeford High.
