AUGUSTA — Zach Gilpin scored 25 of his 38 points in the first half as top-seeded Hampden Academy cruised past sixth-seeded Oxford Hills 82-54 in the Eastern Class A boys’ basketball championship game Friday night at the Augusta Civic Center.

Isaiah Bess added 13 points for Hampden (20-0), which led 48-24 at halftime. The defending state champions will play Portland or Bonny Eagle for the state title next Saturday at the Cumberland County Civic Center.

Oxford Hills (13-7) was led by Luke Davidson with 16 points. 

OXFORD HILLS 54, EDWARD LITTLE 34: Anna Winslow went 10 for 13 from the free-throw line and finished with 22 points to lead the third-seeded Vikings (17-4) past the top-seeded Red Eddies (19-2) in the Eastern Class A girls’ final.

Mikayla Morin added 16 points and five steals for the Vikings, who held Edward Little to 21 percent shooting.

Tianna Harriman scored 12 points to pace the Red Eddies. Brooke Reynolds grabbed nine rebounds.
